The Dwarven Stonehead Idols are a set of four highly detailed stone dwarf heads cast in high-quality resin and designed for 28–32mm fantasy and medieval miniatures. Use these compact dwarven statues on miniature bases, as individual battlefield scenery, or as decorative features in temples, ruins, mountain strongholds and dioramas.
What are Dwarven Stonehead Idols? They are sculpted stone idols shaped like characteristic dwarf heads. They immediately give a scenery project a recognisable dwarven theme and work particularly well in environments inspired by ancient dwarf kingdoms, mines, underground halls, abandoned fortresses and forgotten shrines. They can represent monuments to ancestors, guardians beside an entrance or remnants of a civilisation lost beneath the mountains.
The set contains:
Each Stonehead Idol measures approximately 30mm. in height and 21mm. in diameter. The models are designed for approximately 28–30mm scale, around 1:55 to 1:60, making them a good match for many 28–32mm fantasy miniatures. The complete set weighs approximately 40gr.
The Dwarven Stonehead Idols are digitally sculpted in 3D and then professionally produced and cast. This process combines the accuracy of digital sculpting with the finish of a cast model. The finished resin components have no visible print lines, allowing the facial features, beards, contours and stone details to remain clearly defined without requiring you to remove typical 3D printing layers before painting.
The models are made from high-quality resin and are supplied unpainted. Resin is particularly suitable for small scenery accessories because it reproduces fine relief and sharp sculpted shapes effectively. This makes the idols ideal for painters who want to emphasise their details with drybrushing, washes, pigments and other weathering techniques.
How do you use Dwarven Stonehead Idols? On a larger miniature base, a single stone head can become a strong thematic feature. Place a dwarf hero beside the statue of an ancestor, position an adventurer among the remains of an ancient dwarven settlement, or use an idol as part of a collapsed temple. Combine it with rocks, rubble, sand, snow, moss or other basing materials to integrate the model naturally into its surroundings.
On a gaming table, the four Stonehead Idols work well as scatter terrain, objective markers and decorative scenery. Place them beside the entrance to a dwarven stronghold, along an underground road or around an ancient throne room. Using several statues across a battlefield can visually connect separate terrain pieces and help create a consistent dwarven environment.
The idols also offer plenty of options for larger modelling projects. Incorporate them into walls, gateways, temples or tombs. A Stonehead Idol can stand as a complete statue or be partially buried beneath rubble and vegetation to suggest a much older ruin. This versatility makes the set suitable for both thriving dwarven settlements and abandoned fantasy landscapes reclaimed by nature.
The set is suitable for both beginners and experienced model makers and miniature painters. Beginners can use the models as standalone scenery and achieve an effective stone finish with a simple base coat, wash and drybrush. Advanced hobbyists can add pigments, moss, surface damage, colour variation and more extensive weathering to give each statue its own history and character.
How do you prepare these resin models for painting? Wash the parts in warm water with a small amount of soap before applying primer. Rinse them thoroughly and carefully dry them with paper towel. Allow the resin to dry completely before priming. Acrylic paints are recommended for painting the models.
For a classic stone appearance, start with a dark grey or brown base colour. Apply a wash to deepen the recessed areas and then gradually drybrush the raised surfaces with lighter shades. The beard, eyebrows and other sculpted details will quickly become more pronounced. Add subtle green or brown staining, moss and pigments to create ancient statues that have spent centuries inside a damp mountain stronghold or forgotten ruin.
