The Dwarven Rune Stones 2 are a set of four highly detailed resin accessory pieces designed for fantasy and medieval miniatures around 28–32mm. What are Dwarven Rune Stones? They are decorative stone monuments with a distinct dwarven and fantasy character, designed to add history, mystery and atmosphere to a scene. Each stone measures approximately 29–31mm. in height and around 9mm. in thickness. This makes them a natural fit for miniatures and scenery in approximately 28–30mm scale, around 1:55 to 1:60, while also working very well alongside many common 28–32mm tabletop gaming miniatures. The total weight of the set is approximately 20gr.

The models are originally digitally sculpted in 3D and then professionally produced and cast. One important advantage of this production method is that the finished resin pieces have no visible print lines. This reduces the preparation required before painting and allows the sharp relief, edges and carved details to remain clearly visible on the finished model.

The Dwarven Rune Stones are made from high-quality resin and are supplied unpainted. Resin is an excellent material for decorative scenery and basing components because it can reproduce fine textures and small sculpted details particularly well. As a result, the carved runes and stone surfaces remain easy to pick out with paint, washes and drybrushing.

How do you use Dwarven Rune Stones with miniatures? A single stone can be placed directly onto a round or oval miniature base to give a character an immediate environmental context. A dwarven hero could be standing beside an ancient boundary marker, an adventurer might be examining a forgotten rune, or a wizard could be activating an old stone monument. On larger bases, several pieces can be combined with rocks, sand, tufts, moss and other basing materials.

For scenery and dioramas, the rune stones can be built into walls, ruins, temples or underground structures. They also work well as standalone objectives or recognisable landmarks on a wargaming table. Place them along an ancient road, around the entrance to a mine, beside a burial mound or in the centre of an abandoned dwarven complex. Small features like these can quickly add a strong narrative element to a battlefield.

Acrylic paints are recommended and work very well for painting these scenery pieces.

For a convincing stone finish, start with a darker base colour and gradually drybrush lighter shades across the raised surfaces. This quickly brings out the sculpted edges and carved runes. A wash can add extra shadow and depth to the recessed areas. Moss effects, pigments, earth tones and subtle green or brown weathering can then be added to create the appearance of an old monument that has stood in the landscape for centuries.
