Product description

Kaleido ColorWorks Airbrush Retarder Thinner KT202 is a airbrush thinner with drying retarder for adjusting paint thinning and drying behaviour, supplied in a 210ml. bottle. Use it as a focused stage in your painting process, considering the model, your equipment and the finish you want to achieve.

An Airbrush Retarder Thinner combines the role of a thinner with a drying retarder. It is intended to adjust paint handling during airbrushing. It is particularly relevant when exploring whether a change in consistency and drying behaviour better suits your spraying technique. Start with a small trial mixture and evaluate the difference before adjusting the paint mixture for an entire model project or session.

Add the product gradually in a clean mixing container or paint cup. One fixed ratio does not automatically suit every paint, airbrush or working environment. Test one change at a time so you can see how the addition affects the mixture. Record the amount when a combination works well. This gives you a useful reference for a later session with the same colour and type of component.

Kaleido colours are pre-thinned for airbrushing. Try the paint as supplied before adjusting the mixture. When making a change, examine both the spray pattern and the layer forming on the test piece. A longer working time can also mean reassessing the sequence and waiting time between stages. Consider that when planning a model involving multiple colours, masking or separate painted assemblies.

For precise airbrushing, treat paint quantity, hand movement and air supply as related factors. Adding an auxiliary does not replace that coordination. Use your test component to establish a comfortable working approach first. Then assess whether the same method is appropriate for larger panels or smaller details on your miniature, vehicle or robot model, adapting the process to the particular surface being painted.

Allow adjusted paint mixtures to dry adequately before masking or applying another product layer. Follow the directions on the packaging and check the combination on a test component. Keep decals, panel lining and final varnish in mind when planning the sequence. Testing the complete process on a spare part lets you see whether the altered paint handling fits the finish you want to achieve.

Prepare only the quantity of paint and auxiliary required for the session, keeping the original bottle clearly identifiable. Close the packaging after dispensing and separate mixing tools from cleaning tools. After spraying, a cleaner is the appropriate product type for cleaning your airbrush. A retarder thinner belongs to the preparation of the paint mixture before that later cleaning stage in your modelling workflow.

Place a test piece painted with the adjusted mixture beside one painted with the original paint. Use a similar spraying movement for both and examine the results carefully. This comparison helps you assess whether the addition gives useful handling changes for your particular component before continuing with the complete model.

The 210ml. capacity is a practical choice when planning several models or extended working sessions. Keep dispensing controlled even with this larger bottle. Set aside the small quantity required for the next stage, then close the packaging again. This helps keep the workspace organised when moving between different colours, model components and painting products throughout the session.

This auxiliary suits model builders who want a considered painting process, from the first test to the final component. Beginners can use it to understand a specific stage in their workflow. Experienced users can incorporate it into an established routine. In either case, a spare test part remains useful for checking decisions before continuing on a complete model or an important visible surface.
